CHAPTER 1

A man is working feverishly, in the lab! He knows if he doesn't finish, things will not work out for the next part of his assignment! He is frantically working, and he is sweating!, he looks over his shoulder, and he thinks, oh great! It's almost time! He tries to finish even quicker!, now. He keeps up his pace, he is very eager to keep everything moving right along. He has one eye on the clock, and one eye on his work! He is getting closer, and closer, yet he realizes, he is still, so very far away! Yet, closer, closer still!, he is trying! The man glances at the clock again, and then back to his work!, now back at the clock again! Closer, closer, even closer still! He looks back at the clock again!, he thinks, I must finish!, I am so close! He keeps up his pace!, but will it be enough?! He is trying, he keeps moving very steady!, like a well oiled machine! He is looking at the clock again, he tries to speed up!, he is now looking back at his work! He hears someone!, oh no!, he thinks, if they distract me!, I definitely won't be able to finish! He keeps at his work! He now hears the person, it is his boss!, the scientist. He hears him calling for him, George, George. The scientist sees George. "Georgie!, Georgie!", he says, "What are you doing?!" George looks at him, he has almost finished with his work!, he keeps going, trying to frantically finish his task! The scientist shakes his head, Georgie, you are doing a wonderful job, but you can stop now. George looks at him, "Stop now?!", George replies, I'm almost finished! The scientist says, "Yes, yes, I see, things will be ok, you can stop." George looks at the scientist again. Yes Georgie, it will be ok. You see Georgie, when I said, to please have all of the equipment washed for tomorrow, I thought this was, all that there was. When I left the lab, I was informed that we will be doing more work than what I was first informed about. Also Georgie you know, I wouldn't be upset at you if you didn't finish. I see how hard you were trying, and now it is almost time to leave. So stop here, and we will allow time to finish, and clean the rest of the equipment tomorrow. Then we can start our next task after. Why don't you clean up, and we will go have a soda, take a break, and then we can go home. George tells the scientist, "ok." George has a big smile! "Good Georgie", says the scientist. Georgie, "yes", says George, I see you were working very hard, and I know you would have finished, good boy Georgie. George is now smiling, and he is cleaning up. The scientist says, "I"ll meet you in the break room". George says, "ok". The scientist says, the sodas are on me!" George says, "I"ll be there". The scientist leaves for the break room. George finishes cleaning up, and now he is on his way, towards the break room as well. He sees Lana in the hallway. "Hi Lana", says George. She just looks, and goes walking into a room close by, and closes the door. George thinks to himself, well... at least I did try. George is now at the break room. The scientist hands George a soda it is his favorite. George says, "thank you so much", he has a huge smile. The scientist says, "you are very welcome". They sit down, and watch some tv. The scientist is called out of the room, as he is leaving, he tells George, "I will see you tomorrow, I need to go talk to them, this is very important". George says, "ok, thank you for the soda". The scientist says, "anytime, you are very welcome, Georgie". George finishes his soda, and he heads home. George is back at work, he is enjoying the new day, and he had a very good night's rest, from the night before. He is washing the rest of the equipment, and since there is extra equipment, to be washed, there is extra time to do so. The scientist comes in, and he tells George he is doing a wonderful job, and he has plenty of time to finish. George says, "ok", and he smiles. The scientist says, "Good boy Georgie, also when you are finished, come see me, and we will go over what we are doing today". George says, "ok, I will". The scientist leaves. George is excited, he is very familiar with what they are working on, and by now it is routine to George, so he knows he will do a good job, for the scientist. It's now lunch time, so George breaks for lunch. He heads towards the break room. He sees Lana, in the hallway, so he says hi. Lana looks at him, walks into the same room, and closes the door. George thinks, well I tried, again. George is in the break room, eating his lunch, also he is watching tv. The scientist comes into the room, and says, "hi Georgie". George tells the scientist, that he will be finished shortly, with cleaning the rest of the equipment, when he goes back, from his lunch break. The scientist smiles, and says, "good boy Georgie, I will be ready when you are". They have the rest of their lunch together, and are watching tv. They are just about finished, and the scientist is called out of the room. The scientist says, "I will meet you back in the lab, and goes. George finishes with his lunch, and heads back towards the the lab. As he is walking down the hallway he sees Lana. He says, "hi", and she looks at him, and she goes into the room, and closes the door. George thinks to himself, well, at least I'm trying to be nice. George is back in the lab, and he finishes with the last piece of equipment to be cleaned, or so he thought. When he came back from the break room, and he had finished with his lunch, there were plenty more pieces of equipment, and a note, from the scientist. The note read, please wash this equipment as well, leave work when you are supposed to, and you can finish cleaning the rest of the equipment tomorrow, and then we will go over our next task. George kept cleaning, it was now time for him to go home, there was plenty of equipment left, but he was ready to go home, and he knew it would be ok to finish up tomorrow. So George cleaned up, and he went home. George had another nice night, and now he was back at work, and cleaning up the rest of the equipment. He finished with the last piece of equipment, and looked around, just to make sure, that was truly the last piece of equipment, and it was. He thought, it was much nicer being able to finish, and not having to rush. Now it was lunch time. So he headed to the break room. Now this time when he saw Lana in the hallway, she looked at him, and ran into the room, and practically slammed the door in his face, when he went to say hi. He thought, Wow!, is she in a hurry, or something!, oh well. So he kept going to the break room. When he reached the break room, there was a note taped to the tv, it read have a nice lunch, take the rest of the day off, I will see you tomorrow, I am in a meeting. P.S. - Great job on cleaning all of the equipment. George knew he could go to town to have his lunch, under these circumstances, and that is exactly what he did. He also thought, very briefly, maybe Lana would like to go, he smiled, and then just laughed to himself, and thought oh well. George was in town, and he was having a great lunch. The day was still very nice, sunny, and warm. He finished with what lunch he had, and then he headed over to the ice cream shop, which was partly, the best reason, to be having lunch in town! Also to say hello, to some of the people, he knew in town, as well. George was at the ice cream shop, and he purchased a banana split, and since it was for him, he got an extra large, banana split, with all the works! He paid, said thank you, and he chose to sit down at the tables outside, and have it out there, in front of the store.

The Monster Man
